By using a mixture of Combined Heat and Power plant (CHP) technologies, it has become an effective way of generating and supplying heat simultaneously to large groups of people. CHP can use both fuels fossil and renewable fuels. It has been employed for many years, mostly in industrial, large commercial, and institutional settings, but is now becoming more popular.

No longer do communities in hotels, office buildings or residential blocks require multiple boilers. The mechanisms within an energy centre have removed that necessity and is now able to provide a greener way of bringing heating and hot water to businesses and residential complexes.
